Austin ISD launched a public dashboard Sept. 15 tracking academic and staffing data at 29 campuses carrying "unacceptable" ratings from the Texas Education Agency, giving families and staff an ongoing look at teacher quality and student performance throughout the school year.
The dashboard, located on the district's School Improvement page, is expected to expand to cover all AISD schools over time, according to a presentation Superintendent Matias Segura gave the Board of Trustees on Aug. 27.
Why it matters
Most of the 29 campuses are operating under state-mandated turnaround plans, or TAPs, which require those with repeated unacceptable TEA ratings to show academic improvement or risk more severe state intervention, per the district.
That group includes Burnet, Webb and Dobie middle schools, which the district now fully operates after ending a management partnership with an outside nonprofit in July. The TEA declined in May to approve the partnership, which would have paused the schools' accountability ratings, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
Several campuses on the dashboard's initial list have since closed, most recently Paredes Middle School, whose 635 students were split between Bailey and Mendez middle schools this fall, past reporting shows. The TAPs of these closed campuses have been absorbed by the campuses where students were reassigned. Paredes' closure, like that of several other campuses, still awaits final TEA approval.

Segura said the dashboard is meant to provide transparency for the community, tracking data points at each campus so families and staff can see where resources are needed.
"We are being really clear on how each of these data points shows for each of these schools, so if there is an area of need in resource allocations, our community is aware that we understand what it is and we're making adjustments to support those students in those schools," he said.
What's on it
The dashboard tracks a mix of static and regularly updated metrics, including:
Principal experience for the 2026-27 school year
Core and overall teacher vacancy numbers and rates
Percentage of certified and experienced teachers
Teacher attendance against a 95% goal
Active Parent Teacher Association status
Measures of Academic Progress assessment data, including beginning-, middle- and end-of-year comparisons to the prior year and quarterly growth tracking
What's next
The dashboard is set to update on the 15th of every month on the district website, Segura said, allowing families and staff to track how each of the campuses is progressing throughout the school year.
