In the last four years, as the Georgetown community has grown, so has the number of students attending Georgetown ISD.

In fact, district leaders are taking initial steps to consider calling another bond election in May 2024 to fund new construction projects and other improvements.

Student enrollment

GISD is projected to serve about 550 more students in 2023-34 than during the school year prior, according to district projections. Additionally, the student population has increased by about 15.5% since the 2020-21 school year.

GISD has a lower percentage of economically disadvantaged students and English learners than the state average, data from the Texas Education Agency shows. Meanwhile, the district's percentage of special education students is about three percentage points higher than the state average.


Total teachers and salaries

While the number of full-time teachers decreased in 2022-23 from 2021-22, there's about 5.3% more full-time teachers in the district now than in 2019-20, according to TEA data.


Additionally, the starting teacher pay has increased annually, rising to $54,450 in 2023-34.
