Johnson, who has 21 years of public education experience, will begin with the district on Jan. 17, according to a Dec. 14 GISD release.
She most recently worked as the director of support staff and employee relations in Round Rock ISD, and previously worked as a classroom teacher and in campus administration.
At GISD, Johnson will oversee HR programs, including recruitment and staffing, wages and salaries, staff appraisals, hiring, investigations, and employee relations and benefits, according to the release.
GISD students are out of school for winter break from Dec. 19-Jan. 3.
