The city was ranked the 27th-safest city in the state by home security company SafeWise in a report released in early June. The company evaluated cities with populations larger than 10,000 and based findings on FBI Crime Report statistics from 2013, which includes the number of violent crimes such as robbery, murder, and aggravated assault and rape. “We generally have less than 1,000 total [crimes] per year,” Chief Wayne Nero said. “Comparatively speaking, it doesn’t get much safer.”
