Valerie Nicholson, co-owner of Boomtown Escape Games, said she sees demand for more event-focused businesses around Georgetown’s downtown Square, particularly ones that cater to group activities.

“We want to be part of a half day or a whole day that people spend on the Square,” said Valerie, who runs Boomtown with her husband, Blake Nicholson.

Boomtown, which opened in April, offers two escape rooms—one modeled after a saloon and the other designed as a schoolhouse—that require participants to work in teams to find clues and solve puzzles.

Valerie said escape-room games can be for family or fun, or they can help companies and organizations practice team-building skills.

Rates start at $25 per person with discounts for groups of six. Teams are given 48 minutes to complete one of the escape rooms.
