It’s another busy week in Georgetown. Here are six things you need to know:

Nov. 1-30

Toys for Tots is collecting new and assembled bikes and helmets throughout the month of November. Participants can drop items off Mon.-Fri. from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Keller Williams Realty, 823 S. Austin Ave.

Turkey Trot
Nov. 24

Hosted by the Georgetown Running Club and Sertoma Club of Georgetown, the event starts and finishes on the Square. The race includes a 5-mile run/walk and 1-mile walk as well as sponsor booths. There is also a Kids’ Fun Run. Proceeds from the event are shared between Williamson County Meals on Wheels and Friends of Georgetown Parks and Recreation. Donations of nonperishable food are also accepted.

Community Thanksgiving
Nov. 24
A communitywide traditional Thanksgiving meal is served to people at three different Georgetown locations. The sit-down dinner and boxed meals include turkey, dressing, gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans, rolls and sweet potatoes. Water and tea are served. The event is being planned and supported by the city of Georgetown Police and Fire departments, the Georgetown Public Library, Alycia Tandy’s Do Yourself a Flavor Catering and Salvation Army-Williamson County.

Lighting of the Square
Nov. 25
The event includes songs from the Austin Carolers, and the Georgetown mayor and Williamson County judge lead attendees in a countdown before the lights are turned on. 5:30-6:30 p.m. Free. Williamson County Courthouse, 710 S. Main St. 512-930-3545. www.visit.georgetown.org

Tree lighting
Nov. 26

The Sheraton Georgetown Texas Hotel & Conference Center will ring in the holidays with a tree-lighting celebration. The event will feature popcorn, cookies, cider and coffee, holiday music, a visit from Santa Claus and special holiday drinks for purchase from Jack’s Lounge.

Go BIG, Shop Small … Daytripper style

Shoppers are invited to the Square for Small Business Saturday. Participants should begin at 10 a.m. in the visitors center to receive a map of all participating merchants, which can be completed to reveal a secret word and entry into a drawing. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Free.
