With all ballots reported, District 2 incumbent Jayme Mathias was re-elected to the Austin ISD board of trustees with 9,682 votes, or 68.02 percent of the votes. His challenger Adolphus "Andy" Anderson received 4,552 votes, or 31.98 percent of the votes.

On his Twitter, supporters congratulated Mathias for his win.

In response to early voting results indicating a strong lead in his favor, District 2 incumbent Jayme Mathias had this to say:

"I feel extremely grateful for all of the support, for all of the 7,000 voters who showed up at the polls in early voting, to be able to show that they desire for us to continue reclaiming the promise of public education in Austin," he said. "We've done so much these last four years, so to be able to continue that momentum is a great honor for me. I'm happy to be here, happy to see the results coming in so far and look forward to celebrating all that we have done and all that we plan to continue doing for the sake of our students and our schools."

Early voting results indicate a strong lead for Jayme Mathias in Austin ISD's District 2 trustee race

Updated at 7:17 p.m. In the race to become Austin ISD's next District 2 trustee, early voting results indicate Incumbent Jayme Mathias is in the lead with 69.18 percent of the vote, or 7,310 votes. His opponent Adolphus "Andy" Anderson received 30.82 percent of the votes, or 3,256 votes.

Mathias to attend Election Night Watch Party at Serranos Restaurant Posted at 3:11 p.m. Austin ISD board of trustees District 2 incumbent Jayme Mathias will be joining at-large Place 8 candidate David Ryan Quintanilla at an election night watch party this evening at Serranos Restaurant, owned by Quintanilla. Mathias will also be joined by his husband, Luyao “Anthony” Tang; his campaign manager Vincent Tovar and his supporters from Education Austin.
