In-N-Out Burger will open a second city of Austin location on South Lamar Boulevard, a company spokesman confirmed March 19.
The California-based burger chain will take over the former Wendy’s at 3701 S. Lamar Blvd., a space that was vacated earlier this year. In-N-Out Burger is actively working on improving the site and have applied for all necessary permits, said Carl Van Fleet, vice president of planning and development, in a written statement to
Community Impact Newspaper.
Van Fleet said he could not confirm an opening date for the new location until after construction starts. Work should get underway soon, he said, and new restaurants typically open about five months after construction begins.
In-N-Out Burger first arrived to the Austin area in July 2013 with a location in Round Rock. The company’s first Austin storefront debuted December 2013 along I-35 and Airport Boulevard. A third area In-N-Out Burger location opened in April 2014 in Cedar Park.
In-N-Out Burger started in California in 1948 by Harry Snyder, whose family still owns the business. None of the units are franchised. There are also In-N-Out Burger locations in Nevada, Arizona and Utah as well as the Dallas-Fort Worth area where the company has a new distribution center.
