Starting next week, a segment of the San Gabriel River Trail will be closed for four weeks while improvements are made to increase the accessibility of the area.

The 0.6-mile concrete section of the San Gabriel River Trail, also known as the "hike and bike trail" colloquially, will close Nov. 27 and reopen Dec. 22 without weather delays, according to a city of Georgetown statement released Tuesday afternoon.

The section of trail stretches from Rivery Park to a point in San Gabriel Park just northwest of the fork in the San Gabriel River. Other parts of the trail, like the loop around San Gabriel Park, will remain open.

The release stated that in the future, other segments the San Gabriel River Trail will be closed for accessibility improvements as well.
