Filing for a place on the ballot in the Nov. 8 election ended Aug. 22. In the city of San Marcos, voters will fill four positions on City Council, including the mayor’s seat and places 1, 2 and 3. Candidate information is according to applications for places on the ballot filed with the city. Asterisks indicate incumbent candidates.

Five candidates have filed for the mayor’s seat. Current Mayor Daniel Guerrero will not seek re-election.

Four candidates have filed for the Place 2 seat. Jude Prather, who currently holds the Place 2 seat, will not seek re-election.

Four candidates have filed for the Place 3 seat. John Thomaides, who currently holds the Place 3 seat, had to resign the seat in order to run for mayor. Thomaides will serve in the Place 3 seat until after the Nov. 8 election.
