The city plans to close the Austin Public Library’s Hampton Branch location at 5125 Convict Hill Road from October 2016 to January 2017 for renovations, library spokesperson Kanya Lyons said.


Changes to the site are set to include a roof replacement; new skylights; a redesigned interior layout; technology improvements.; updated heating, cooling and plumbing systems; and furniture, fixture and equipment replacements to meet Americans with Disabilities Act compliance.


Hampton Branch library to be renovatedVoters in November 2012 approved six city bond propositions, and about $1.3 million was earmarked for the Hampton Branch renovation project, according to city documents.


The APL Bookmobile, which offers computers, Wi-Fi and a small collection of books, will make periodic stops at the branch during renovations.
