Dell Children's opened a new Maternal Care Center on Jan. 18 that will allow mothers who are patients of the Comprehensive Fetal Care Center and diagnosed with complex and rare fetal conditions to receive obstetrical care on site, according to a news release.

The Maternal Care Center is a clinical collaboration between Dell Children’s and UT Health Austin.

“Our team provides unparalleled care for mothers with a fragile baby at one central location, increasing the chances of survival and the quality of life for newborns and mothers,” said Dr. John Harkins, obstetrician and gynecologist at Dell Children's Maternal Care Center.

According to the news release, the Comprehensive Fetal Care Center is the only center that provides care for babies with congenital conditions in Central Texas.

“The close proximity of these two centers allows for seamless communication between fetal medicine specialists and obstetricians. Highly experienced obstetricians work collaboratively with the entire fetal care team to provide comprehensive care to both mother and baby,” said Dr. Michael Nix, Maternal Medical Director at Dell Children’s Specialized Delivery Unit.

The new center is located in the Dell Children's Speciality Pavilion at 4910 Mueller Blvd., Austin. www.dellchildrens.net
