Austin City Council voted in favor of two redevelopment plans at the March 3 meeting.

The property located at 815 W. 11th St. is occupied as single-family residential use. The council approved the area to be rezoned for a mixed use of commercial and residential use.

The other redevelopment is located near the southeast corner of West 35th Street and Jefferson Street, where a Burger King used to be. That building is 2,900 square feet, and it is on a 0.16-acre lot. The council approved the rezoning plan to tear down the old Burger King building, combine it with adjacent land, and construct a building with 36,000 square feet of office space and 5,000 square feet of commercial space. A building height of up to 60 feet is permitted.

The council approved the redevelopment of single-family residential use on first reading, and it will be put back on the agenda at a later meeting for second reading. After the second reading, it will move to the third reading and be considered for final approval.

The Burger King redevelopment was approved by the council on second reading, and it will be put back on the agenda at a later meeting for a third reading.
