A winter storm warning will be in effect across Central Texas, including Travis and Williamson counties, from midnight-9 p.m. Feb. 3.

The National Weather Service is forecasting ice accumulation of up to a quarter-inch in the warning area and up to a quarter-inch of sleet in some areas. School closures

Leander ISD and many other schools announced closures in advance of the winter weather.

Road conditions

The Texas Department of Transportation will update road conditions online at https://drivetexas.org.

Williamson County officials ask drivers to stay home if roads are icy or dangerous. If you need to drive, the NWS recommends keeping an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Power outages

Pedernales Electric Cooperative customers can report power outages or check on outages at https://outages.pec.coop/outage. Customers can also call 888-883-3379.

If an outage occurs, PEC recommends not using a stove or oven for heat due to fire and carbon monoxide risks; only running cars outside your garage and ensuring the exhaust pipe is clear of snow or debris; and running generators more than 20 feet from windows and doors to keep fumes outside.
