Kris Krolczyk, co-owner of My Love Fur Paws Pet Care, said she has created her entire business model from one phrase: Build a business brand by creating its purpose through your passion.

She said her passion is to provide care to animals. Krolczyk and her husband, Kory, began pet sitting dogs for their friends out of their Bee Cave home about five years ago. Word spread of their business, and the hobby began to take over their home, with as many as 20 dogs staying with them during busy seasons like the holidays, Kris said.

“We quickly learned there was a need for exceptional service in animal care,” she said.

The couple opened My Love Fur Paws, a high-end dog day care and boarding facility, in November 2015. Instead of kennels, dogs at the Lakeway facility stay in condos with clear doors so they can see outside of the condos. The site also has an outdoor area with play equipment.

The pets have supervised play for seven to eight hours a day, Kris said. Dogs can also get story time and snuggles, marrowbones and movie nights complete with dog-friendly popcorn snacks.

“I wanted families to have a really fun place—a kind, caring place—to bring their pets,” she said. “We created a uniqueness for our customers.”

Kris said her purpose in life is to give back to the community through the support of animal nonprofit organizations, such as Blue Dog Rescue, Austin Pets Alive and Lucky Labs. Last year she donated $31,000 of in-kind products to the groups, she said.

The cat-boarding space in MLFP is home to foster cats from Austin Siamese Rescue.

“You have to be their voice,” Kris said of her love of animals. “You have to protect them.”

This year, the Krolczyks plan to offer behavior training; add an in-ground, bone-shaped swimming pool; and create a bark-and-brew area where patrons can drink a beer while their dogs socialize in a safe environment, she said.

“We found a passion, and we’re successful here because clients know that about us,” she said.
