Bastrop Public Library is set to host its annual Holiday Open House on Dec. 9 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

What's happening?

The library is participating in the fourth-annual Great City Decorating Contest, which pits city departments against one another to see who can decorate the most festive graham cracker house.

"The competition is fierce, so be ready to make the hard decision," said Bethany Dietrich of Bastrop Public Library. "The winners will receive Facebook fame, a fabulous trophy and bragging rights for the entire year."

Located at 1100 Church St., library officials have stocked up on 300 graham cracker houses to offer those who attend the open house event. Frosting, candy and other treats to decorate the house will also be provided.

A limited number of kits will be available to those who would rather decorate their house elsewhere, Dietrich said.
