Art by Bastrop ISD fourth graders can be found at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport's Barbara Jordan Terminal. Titled “Drawing the Blanton," the exhibition can be found at the airport through May 2024.

The artwork is seen by the airport’s visitors as part of the Changing Exhibits program.

How it happened

Blanton Museum of Art educators partnered with BISD’s elementary art teachers for the exhibition. As an experiment in creative response, students selected one artwork from the Blanton collection to inspire their own piece.

As part of the project, students visited the Blanton Museum of Art to see their chosen artwork up close. Over 900 Bastrop County students took part in the project, according to a Blanton Museum of Art press release.

Austin Airport and Blanton Museum staff members curated the artwork for the airport gallery.
