As the weather cools this weekend, spend some time outside at a festival or head indoors to support a local nonprofit. Here are five events to consider this weekend.

Kyle Hogwash Festival & BBQ Cook-Off
The inaugural edition of the event includes live music, with headliner Midnight River Choir; two days of carnival activities; vendor booths; a cooking demo stage; a beer garden; a hog-calling contest; and a barbecue cookoff. 3-11 p.m. (Fri. carnival and barbecue), noon-11 p.m. (Sat. carnival). Fun-raiser for HCWC
Dahlia Woods Gallery will host a fundraiser for the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center. There will be a live auction of original art by children as well as donated pieces from DWG artists. Buda Beer and Polka Fest 2016
The Buda Beer and Polka Fest brings together different genres of Texas music as well as the top accordion players in the Lone Star State. Headlining are the Texas Tornados, featuring original members Augie Meyers and six-time grammy winner Flaco Jimenez. Heat Pray Love Chili Cook Off
The Episcopal Church Women and St. Marks Church are hosting a Heat Pray Love Chili Cookoff. Attendees can vote for their favorite chili with cash. The event will also feature a silent auction and a bake sale with creations from local pastry chefs and bakers. The money raised will benefit nonprofits in the San Marcos area such as Hays Caldwell Women’s Center, the Hays County Food Bank and the Southside Community Center. There will also be a petting zoo, a bouncy house and face painting, as well as live music. The first ever Monthly Martindale Market will feature vendors offering a variety of products, as handmade arts and crafts, farm-grown food, vintage clothing and antiques.
