Four local road projects are in the design phase, according to discussion at the Feb. 25 Shenandoah City Council meeting. Council member Ron Raymaker presented an update on the projects.
Upcoming projects
Tamina Road widening project
Project: This project along Tamina Road between Broadway Avenue and Sleepy Hollow Road will provide improvements such as new driveways and culverts as well as regrading roadside ditches.
Update: The project is in the design phase, and the city is coordinating with Montgomery County for funding.
Timeline: estimated completion in late 2026
Cost: $1.9 million
Funding source: Montgomery County Precinct 4
Shenandoah Park asphalt replacement
Project: This project will involve the removal of asphalt roadway abutting the east driveway into the Park at Woodmoor apartments.
Update: The project is in the design phase with construction to begin in August.
Timeline: estimated completion in late 2026
Cost: $1.5 million
Funding source: city of Shenandoah
David Memorial Drive at Tamina Road Intersection
Project: The project will consist of adding a westbound right-turn lane from David Memorial Drive onto westbound Tamina Road to create three lanes.
Update: Roma Construction was approved as the company to work on the project at the Feb. 12 meeting.
Timeline: estimated completion in late 2026
Cost: $500,000
Funding source: federal, state funds
I-45 intersection improvements
Project: A direct connector will be installed along I-45 between Shenandoah Park Drive and Hwy. 242, connecting northbound I-45 with eastbound Hwy. 242.
Update: The project drawings have been sent to the Texas Department of Transportation to review.
Timeline: second quarter 2025-second quarter 2028
Cost: $42.63 million

A traffic study will be presented to the council and discussed at a future meeting regarding traffic concerns around Shenandoah, as found by the Traffic Analysis Committee, led by council member Joe M. Summerlin.
