The Shenandoah City Council approved Magnolia-based Roma Construction on Feb. 11 as the company to work on the David Memorial and Tamina Road Intersection Improvements project for $224,494.
What to know
Interim Public Works Director Rual Porras told the council at the Feb. 11 meeting that four bids were received Jan. 27 for the capital project, with the lowest being from Roma Construction.
The project will consist of adding a westbound right-turn lane from David Memorial onto westbound Tamina Road to create three lanes, Porras said at the meeting.
The city saved $212,376 on the estimated project amount, Porras said.

What they're saying“This is the first step we're taking to have improvements on the I-45 intersection. We're working with [Texas Department of Transportation] and the county,” Porras said.
The project is being done prior to planned I-45 improvements, creating a direct connector on I-45 from Shenandoah Park Drive to Hwy. 242, as previously reported by Community Impact.
Interim City Administrator Joseph Peart said the city wants to do this now before the larger project begins.
