Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack announced he plans to seek approval June 9 during a Commissioners Court meeting for a plan that gives $65 million back to Montgomery County taxpayers.
According to a press release from Noack's office, the plan is funded by $105 million deposited by the federal government as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act. The press release states the plan will send each homestead property owner who completes an application process a $500 stimulus check.
"We need a boost in the local economy to assist our families which in turn will help our small businesses,” Noack said.
To qualify for the stimulus funding, applicants must own a homestead in Montgomery County as of Jan. 1, apply between July 1 and Aug. 15, and be current on property taxes.
