Terry Black’s Barbecue has opened its first Houston location in the Heights.
The restaurant was founded in 2014 and has locations throughout Texas, including Austin, Dallas, Lockhart, Waco and Fort Worth.
What is it?
Terry Black’s serves its barbecue during lunch and dinner, with meats smoked low and slow before being hand-cut to order. The restaurant also prepares its sides from scratch daily.
The restaurant also offers drinks, including Texas craft beers, wine, nonalcoholic beverages and Terry Black’s frozen black margarita.
Hoppe's Grill & Bar opened its doors in late June along Pearland Parkway, staff said.
On the menu
The restaurant offers an assortment of food, including Philly cheese steaks, mango grilled shrimp tacos, chef salad, half pound burgers, ribeye steak, brisket fries, cajun chicken and shrimp pasta, club sandwich and wings, among other items.
Comfort Foodies, a Latin-Carribean and southern soul food fusion restaurant, has soft opened its new Missouri City location, officials announced in an Aug. 12 news release.
On the menu
The restaurant offers oxtails with rice and beans, pork chops, southern catfish and empanadas with a variety of fillings, according to its website. It also features peach cobbler and bread pudding for dessert.
The new location will have a full bar with specialty cocktails and an expanded frozen empanada line.
Copper Espresso Bar, located at 12925 Bellaire Blvd., celebrated its soft opening weekend beginning July 25, according to an official Instagram post.
What’s in a name
Since opening, the shop’s specialty drink menu—ranging from lattes, cold brews, espressos, matcha, teas and pour-overs—has attracted clientele from all over Houston to the Bellaire Market District.
In addition to beverages, the coffee shop serves fluffy, New Orleans-style beignets daily, which are available until one hour before closing. The beignets are made fresh every day and are coated with powdered sugar, according to information posted on its social media.

Ga U Muoi Hoa Tieu Houston officials said the Vietnamese market opened a new location in the Spring area in early August.
What they offer
According to the website, Ga U Muoi Hoa Tieu is a Vietnamese specialty food and takeout shop offering a diverse menu selection.
A few menu items offered included popcorn chicken, grilled chicken dishes and seafood. The shop also offers Vietnamese sauces, dried shrimp and other Vietnamese snacks.
Craving Kernels is now serving gourmet popcorn and sweets at its second location in Spring, General Manager Julie Carranza confirmed.

Owned by Randy and Tracey Harmon, the antique style sweet shop offers over 80 different types of popcorn including Extra Buttery, Cheddar and Zebra Drizzle both in-store and online.
According to previous Community Impact reporting, the new Spring location will sell the same goodies as the original Tomball location that the Harmons opened in 2018, but will offer additional seating options.
