Best Buy distribution center coming to Missouri City next year

The Missouri City City Council approved a resolution during Monday night’s meeting authorizing the development of a 550,000-square-foot Best Buy Warehousing Logistics facility.

The site will be located at 636 Hwy. 90, Missouri City, at the corner of Cravens Road and Hwy. 90 near Beltway 8.

“This facility is something that I think adds to the long list of recognizable names to our business community,” said Joe Esch, Missouri City Economic Development Director.

The Best Buy facility will serve as a delivery distribution center, housing products for shipment to approximately 60 Best Buy stores in Texas and Louisiana as well as customers’ homes, according to a release.

“We’re pleased to bring this distribution center to Missouri City,” Jeff Shelman, Best Buy spokesman, said in a release. “Not only will it provide local jobs and tax revenue, but it will allow us to better serve our customers throughout much of southern Texas.”

The distribution center is slated to open in time for the 2018 holiday season, and, upon buildout, the new warehouse is expected to create at least 40 full-time jobs.

“This distribution center will have a tremendous economic impact on Missouri City, not only through primary jobs but also as a long-term property tax generator,” Esch said in a release.
