The project to extend the Grand Parkway through League City has made progress after the city recently sold a 1.8-acre highway easement to the Texas Department of Transportation.
League City City Council voted unanimously to transfer the highway easement, also known as Parcel 315, to TxDOT for a sum of nearly $319,000, according to city documents.
The land, which is part of a larger 17-acre parcel of land, is currently used as a detention pond for the Bay Colony Northpointe subdivision.

Montgomery County commissioners took a step toward a new countywide transportation roadmap Jan. 15, discussing a mobility study they said will be the first to outline a 10-year plan for the entire county.
County Judge Mark Keough said the effort began with obtaining federal funds in October 2024, followed by a formal request in December 2024. He said the project was then added to the Houston-Galveston Area Council’s Unified Planning Work Program—a federally required document that outlines and budgets the region’s transportation planning work—when it was approved in April 2025.
Keough said the project will kick off in January and is expected to take 12 to 18 months to complete. Once finished, he said the county plans to initiate a county thoroughfare plan update.

Luxury high-rise for seniors to open near River Oaks in 2030
The Hallmark, a luxury senior living community, is expanding its campus in Greater Uptown.
The new residential and amenity-focused addition of The Hallmark will span 21 stories and offer 120 high-end independent living residences, according to a Jan. 8 news release from the company.
Known as Uptown Oaks, the expansion will feature amenities such as a yoga studio, a massage area, upscale dining venues, an art studio, a movie theater and a swimming pool.
