Developers and project partners celebrated the grand opening of Saddle Creek Village, a low-income housing complex, with a ceremony Nov. 6.
The overview
Saddle Creek Village began construction in November 2024 and residents have been able to apply for housing since March, Natalie Foglio, operations coordinator for Stewardship Development, said in an email.
The multifamily housing complex offers one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments for families earning 60% or less of the area’s median income and also includes units for households earning 30% and 50% AMI, Foglio said. Tory Gunsolley, chief programs officer for Harris County Housing & Community Development, said during the event that the county has a “great need for affordable housing.”
“These are really valuable assets for the community, that people that aren’t making six figures can have a peaceful and safe, affordable place to live, to be able to call home,” Gunsolley said. “We know that having that stability of an affordable rent is life-changing.”
Zooming in
The complex has several amenities, including an after-school learning center, a playground, bike storage and two dog parks, according to its website.
The development received partial funding through the American Rescue Plan Act and is a 9% tax credit project, Community Impact previously reported.
“It’s been our pleasure to be able to provide something like this in the lives of people, in the lives of families that will bless and serve them, hopefully for generations,” Stewardship Development’s Board Chairman Bill Syrios said.
