2 new tenants added to St. Elmo Public Market project in South Austin

Greater Goods Coffee Co. and Fire Dance Pizza have been added as confirmed tenants for St. Elmo Public Market, according to a Jan. 30 news release by the development team.

A local coffee roaster, Greater Goods Coffee Co. opened its first location in 2015 in Dripping Springs and has since opened two additional cafes in the Austin area. The business was founded by Trey Cobb and Khanh Trang.

The St. Elmo Fire Dance Pizza location will be the first brick-and-mortar store for the business, which has Hawaiian roots and is owned by Shannon Wiener and Alex Webster. According to the release, the restaurant uses a “natural fermentation process” to create a sourdough crust.

Construction continues at St. Elmo Public Market—a mixed-use project under development at 4329 S. Congress Ave., Austin—which, once completed, will include a 40,000-square-foot public market, a 100,000-square-foot office building, 385 apartment units and a boutique hotel. The public market aspect will offer retail, dining and entertainment options once opened.

The project was initially scheduled to open in spring 2019, but numerous delays have slowed the project. According to spokesperson Jennifer Sinski, the project currently does not have an estimated opening date.

“St. Elmo Public Market is a massive undertaking, and we understand that the public is eager for this project to progress,” St. Elmo Public Market developer Brandon Bolin said in the news release. “Once complete, the market will include approximately 25 merchants in owner-operator capacities. We’ve painstakingly taken the past two years to create a space for like-minded tenants and to create a market for people to gather, shop, and dine,”

Other tenants currently planned for the market include projects by Lick Honest Ice Creams, Salt & Time, bakery Mignette, and Dripping Springs-based businesses Family Business Beer Co. and Texas Hill Country Olive Oil Co.
