Hays County has released early voting results for the Kyle mayoral race.
What you need to know
Incumbent Yvonne Flores-Cale, Robert Rizo and Donny Wills are vying for the position in the Nov. 3 election.
According to early voting results, Flores-Cale leads with 50.28% of the vote, followed by Rizo at 37.93% and Wills at 11.79%.
Incumbent Yvonne Flores-Cale said she thinks a lot of change is coming to Kyle.
“We did a lot of good things in the last eight months, from the tax rate to water rates to the city forensic audit—which I want to see go all the way. I want to see it to fruition. I want to make sure it gets done. It’s something that the residents have been asking for, including myself,” Flores-Cale said.
In case you missed it
Former Mayor Travis Mitchell stepped down last December before the end of his term, citing confidence in the city’s current position, a desire to return to the private sector and a belief in the importance of making room for new leadership, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.
Flores-Cale won the seat in a runoff election in December to serve for the remainder of Mitchell’s term, which was set to expire this November.
What else?
Unofficial early voting results showed that 98,341 ballots were cast countywide, out of 204,327 registered Hays County voters.
What’s next?
Polls closed at 7 p.m.; voters in line at 7 p.m. could still cast ballots. All results are unofficial until canvassed on Nov. 9.
