A new trail is set to be worked on in Live Oak following a June 13 decision from City Council to accept and award a bid from Abelar Inc. for the construction of the Woodcrest Trail project.

The bid was in the amount of $262,000 and included the authorization for the ability to enter a change order for additional work not to exceed 25%, or $65,500, of the base bid.

In December, City Council approved $400,000 to be allocated from Live Oak Economic Development Corp. funds for the project.

The project

This new trail will take advantage of an existing green belt drainage right of way to connect residents to Woodcrest Park, according to documents submitted by city staff.

The trail will begin at Avery Road, across the street from the new trail at the Vista Ridge subdivision, and connect with an existing trail at Woodcrest Park.

This new park trail is part of the citywide initiative to provide park trail connectivity in key areas throughout Live Oak with the goal to have a trail system that residents can use to move across the city.

A completion date for the trail project has not been announced, but the goal is to have the project finished by the end of the year.
