New Braunfels Utilities and various city facilities will be closed on July 4 in observance of Independence Day, but alternative access options remain available for essential services.

NBU will observe Independence Day with closures across its offices and service points, according to a June 21 news release from the utilities company.

Despite the closure, customers can report outages and access utility services through multiple channels, according to the release:
  • Customers can report outages and sign up for text notifications through the Text Outage Notification System or by calling the 24-hour control center at 830-629-4628.
  • Updates on electric and water outages will continue to be available at www.nbutexas.com/report-an-outage.
Payment options during the closure:
  • Online payments at www.nbutexas.com
  • Pay by phone at 844-863-7360
  • Payments through Western Union at H-E-B stores throughout Comal County, or Arlan's Market and Ace Cash Express in New Braunfels
  • NBU night drop at 263 Main Plaza

Similarly, many city of New Braunfels facilities will be closed in observance of the holiday, according to a June 20 news release from the city, including:
  • City Hall
  • Municipal Court
  • Public Library
  • Parks & Recreation administrative offices
  • Solid Waste and Recycling administrative offices
  • City Recycling Center
  • Westside Community Center
  • Fischer Park Nature Education Center
While city-operated facilities observe closures, essential county services and facilities will remain accessible, including uninterrupted residential and commercial garbage and recycling collection services, according to the release.


Main Plaza and surrounding streets will close at 8 a.m. for the Sophienburg Museum’s Annual 4th of July Parade and Patriotic Program, reopening around 11:30 a.m. after the event concludes, per the release.
