The Comal ISD board of trustees approved the purchase of a 13-acre property from Meyer Ranch, a master-planned residential community led by Crown Community Development, for a new elementary school April 24.

The details

The property cost approximately $3.5 million according to an email from Salwa Lanford, Comal ISD communications specialist. The land acquisition is being funded through Comal ISD's 2023 bond Proposition A.

Although the district does not yet know the schools boundaries, board president Russ Garner told Community Impact they are anticipating the school to provide relief for enrollment at Bill Brown Elementary and potentially Johnson Ranch Elementary.

Although an exact address for the future elementary school has not been confirmed by the district, the Meyer Ranch development is located on S. Crane Mills Road near Hwy. 46 W.

Next steps

Comal ISD will be looking at the boundaries and environmental conditions of the property, Lanford said in an email to Community Impact.

The design of the elementary school will be presented to the board at a future meeting.
