Word Park—which will be open to the public—will be equipped with pickleball courts, hiking trails and a zipline. Word Park will feature interactive nature playscapes and water features, according to a news release.
"While we don't have the Comal River running through it like Landa Park does, we wanted to incorporate a splash pad, but we wanted to do it in a way that really respected the natural environment," Co-CEO at ASA Properties Garrett Mechler told Community Impact.
ASA Properties is a Texas-based real estate firm that specializes in master-planned residential land development. Veramendi is the boutique firm's signature project.
The $10 million park project will also feature educational and interactive spaces designed to promote environmental awareness and conservation efforts.
Digging deeper
The 65-acre park is named in honor of the Word family—who have preserved and cared for the land since 1941. Word Park will also be 25% larger than originally agreed upon in the development agreement, ensuring that the land is preserved and honors its natural heritage, the news release states.
Co-CEO at ASA Properties, Max Harford, said their vision for Word Park was to create an accessible and engaging space that enhances quality of life and fosters a sense of community.
“This park will provide incredible recreational opportunities and set the standard for thoughtful, community-driven park development in Veramendi and beyond,” Harford said in the news release.
Looking ahead
Word Park is slated to break ground in the fall, according to the news release.
