City officials and community members gathered at the corner of West San Antonio Street and South Guenther Avenue on Sept. 29 to celebrate the groundbreaking of The Neue, a planned condominium development in downtown New Braunfels.
The overview
The $27 million, 72,000-square-foot project at 699 W. San Antonio St. is being developed by Seals Family Properties and Gillum Development, according to previous reporting by Community Impact. The project is being designed by TBA Douglas, a San Antonio-based architecture firm.
Lindsey Gillum, principal at Gillum Development, said their knowledge of the area and community helped shape this project.
"We've been deliberate about the design, the materials and the way that this building will meet the street," Gillum said. "It's going to be part of our downtown landscape long after all of us."
The features
The Neue will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom condos. The building will also have businesses on the lower level.

Developers will also be making street improvements along Guenther Avenue and San Antonio Street following the New Braunfels Economic Development Corp's investment of $2.2 million for public infrastructure improvements, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
Infrastructure improvements will include new sidewalks, Americans with Disabilities Act improvements, additional street parking and underground utility lines, Gillum said.
What happens next?
The project is expected to be completed by November 2027, Gillum said.
