A Costco may be on the horizon for New Braunfels residents.

What we know

In an email to Community Impact, Costco's Regional Marketing Manager Kerry Carbullido said they would be opening a location in New Braunfels at some point in the future, but do not yet have an opening timeframe.

The company is looking to build a store at the southeast corner of the Mayfair development—more specifically at the corner of Kohlenberg Road and I-35. Mayfair is a 1,888-acre mixed-use community that broke ground in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of New Braunfels, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.

According to a filing with Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation, the store will be 158,000 square feet with a fuel station. Costco sells a wide range of groceries and household items.

Kristi Robinson, vice president of SouthStar Communities marketing and community relations, said Mayfair's off-street bike loop runs along the northern border of the property, which means residents in Mayfair would have access to Costco from the bike loop.

"We are excited to work with Costco and the city of New Braunfels to bring new shopping opportunities and jobs to the region," Robinson told Community Impact.
