From world-changing apps to therapy through puppies: 6 nonprofits featured in 2021 in Round Rock, Pflugerville and Hutto

Round Rock student-led nonprofit Together We See created programs and vision clinics in countries such as India and Tanzania using the OcularCheck app, which was created by its founder, Soham Govande.

Founded in February 2020, Pflugerville nonprofit organization The Zeus & Luna 2 Pay It Forward helps veterans, first responders and those in need of emotional support or who are struggling with mental health conditions through German Shepherd puppies.

Foster-based Blue Dog Rescue was founded in Round Rock in 2010 and serves the Central Texas area by finding permanent homes for dogs that come into its care.

Pflugerville Pets Alive helps support pets in the Pflugerville Animal Shelter and is always searching for people willing to adopt pets. Requirements to foster include being able to provide a leash and harness, as well as filling out an application on the PPA website.

Abby’s Little Friends is a Florida-based dog rescue, and its Central Texas sister organization that serves the Round Rock, Pflugerville and Hutto areas was founded three years ago. The rescue is foster-based, meaning animals live in the homes of volunteers who care for them.

Austin Angels serves families and children in the foster care system by creating healthy relationships between volunteers and families. Its Love Box program helps meet their physical and material needs through a one-year commitment in which volunteers provide monthly boxes of small gifts.
