Uncle Julio's closed its Frisco location on May 13. The restaurant's voicemail said the location closed because of "lease related circumstances." The Frisco location first opened in April 2024. It served fish tacos, vegetable fajitas, carne asada, honey chipotle salmon, quesadillas and more.

2. Single-family neighborhood heads for development in Richardson
A single-family residential neighborhood is set for development in Richardson after City Council unanimously approved a rezoning request May 11. The planned Greenwood Park neighborhood, located on West Shore Drive, will feature 40 compact single-family homes centered around a neighborhood park. Although the rezoning passed unanimously, several council members voiced concerns that the development does not address the city’s needs for affordable middle housing or senior living spaces.

Super Player Arcade opened along Coit Road in early May. The new arcade has claw machines, traditional arcade games and virtual reality options according to its website. It also offers a craft station where guests can work on beginner-friendly crafts from phone case decor to tufting.

4. Arapaho Center Station redevelopment in Richardson on hold due to funding concerns
The planned redevelopment at Arapaho Center Station in Richardson is on pause due to funding concerns, City Manager Don Magner said. The mixed-use development would have covered roughly 30 acres around Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s Arapaho Center Station. Magner said market conditions are currently not favorable for development of this nature.

5. Celina officials OK $2.6M for Legacy Drive designs
Celina officials are preparing to widen Legacy Drive as the city’s population grows. Plans include widening Legacy Drive to four lanes between Carey Road and Punk Carter Parkway, ensuring proper drainage and making improvements to the intersection of Legacy Drive and FM 428. Celina City Council approved a $2.56 million contract for design services for the project at a May 12 meeting.

Two candidates are vying to be Frisco's next mayor. The two candidates, Rod Vilhauer and Mark Hill, are facing off in a runoff election in June. The two were the top vote-getters during the May 2 election, but neither garnered a majority vote among four candidates. Jeff Cheney is the current mayor of Frisco and has reached his term limit since first being elected mayor in 2017. He cannot run for reelection, bringing a new face to council.
