Filing period closes for Celina, Prosper council seat races

Residents living in the Prosper and Celina communities now have their candidates for the May 4 City Council elections.

The filing period closed at 5 p.m. Feb. 16 for both Celina’s and Prosper’s local elections.

Celina City Council will see races for Place 2 and Place 3.

The candidates for Place 2 are:

• Eddie Cawlfield
• David Hogue

Three candidates are running for Place 3, including:

• Ghentry Pace
• Julissa Porcher
• Andy Hopkins

Hopkins is the Place 3 incumbent. Jay Pierce currently serves in the Place 2 seat and did not refile.

Celina Council members each serve three-year terms, according to the city charter.

Here is a list of the Prosper Town Council races and their candidates:

• Place 2: incumbent Craig Andres
• Place 6: Cameron Reeves

Prosper Town Council members are elected at-large, according to the town’s charter.
