Majority of Pflugerville ISD voters oppose ACC annexation, early voting shows

Pflugerville ISD voters are deciding whether residents within school district will be annexed into Austin Community College's taxing district.

Based on preliminary Travis County and Williamson County election results:

• 13,412 voters or 37.8% have voted for the measure

• 22,029 voters or 62.2% have voted against the measure

Some context

The Austin Community College board of trustees accepted a community petition in June calling for the annexation of PfSD's territory into ACC's taxing district, which would allow students living within the school district's boundaries to access ACC's in-district tuition rates and other opportunities.

The ACC board voted during a special meeting in August to add the item to the November ballot.

Residents living within PfISD’s territory not already in the college’s taxing district are eligible to vote for the measure. PfISD households that live in the city of Austin have been paying ACC taxes since city voters approved joining the district in 2005.
