A number of candidates filed for the May 2 election in the cities of Friendswood, Manvel and Pearland. The deadline to file was Feb. 13.
The last day to register to vote is April 2. Early voting will be from April 20-28, according to the Texas secretary of state’s website.
Manvel City Council
Mayor Dan Davis has filed unopposed for reelection. Incumbent Harry Oplinger is also running unopposed for council Position 3.
Incumbent Crystal Sarmiento, who occupies Position 5, did not file for reelection.
The candidates running for council member Position 5 are:
- Jason Albert
- Justin “JT” Thomson
Each member elected will serve a three-year term from May 2026 to May 2029.
Friendswood City Council
There are several candidates running for Friendswood City Council, according to the city’s website.
Candidates are not placed in ballot order. An asterisk indicates incumbent.
The candidates running for council member Position 2 are:
- Sally Branson*
- Shawna Talton
The candidates running for council member Position 5 are:
- Joseph Matranga*
- Randy Hale
Each member elected will serve a three-year term from May 2026 to May 2029.
Pearland City Council
There are several candidates running for mayor and Pearland City Council, according to the city’s website.
Candidates are not placed in ballot order. An asterisk indicates incumbent.
The candidates running for mayor are:
- Tony Carbone
- Quentin Wiltz
The candidates running for council member Position 3 are:
- Mona Chavarria*
- Toshila McLean
Incumbent Rushi Patel is running unopposed for council member Position 7.
Each member elected in the general election will serve a three-year term from May 2026 to May 2029.
Additionally, Tommy Echols will run unopposed in a special election to fill council member Position 2, which became open when Tony Carbone announced he would run for mayor, as previously reported by Community Impact.
