Alvin ISD and Pearland ISD trustees will hold separate board meetings June 9 to consider the adoption of their budgets for fiscal year 2026-27.
Both districts will hold public hearings to gather community input on the proposed budgets and tax rates ahead of any action, according to district documents.
Alvin ISD
AISD officials expect the operating budget for fiscal year 2026-27 to remain flat at about $391.4 million, unchanged from FY 2025-26, due to slower-than-expected enrollment, AISD’s Chief Financial Officer Daniel Combs said.
Maintenance and operations, or M&O, revenue, which funds daily operations, is primarily driven by student enrollment and attendance-weighted funding rather than property values, which limits revenue growth under current enrollment conditions, as previously reported by Community Impact.
Pearland ISD
PISD projects around $231 million in revenue and nearly $229 million in expenses for FY 2026-27, according to budget documents.
Employee payroll remains the district’s largest expense at $191.02 million, accounting for about 83% of projected revenue, as previously reported by Community Impact.
What else?
AISD is projecting a preliminary tax rate of $1.1403 per $100 valuation of a home for FY 2026-27.
This tax rate combines $0.74550 for M&O and $0.39480 for interest and sinking, or I&S, which pays bond debt, according to budget documents.
PISD’s projected tax rate is unchanged from FY 2025-26 at $1.135 per $100 valuation of a home.
This tax rate combines $0.78690 for M&O and $0.34810 for I&S, according to budget documents.
