Officials with Memorial Hermann Health System announced in July the completion of a $25 million expansion project at the Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital at 27800 Hwy. 290, Cypress.

Hospital CEO Heath Rushing announced the project's completion at a July 16 luncheon hosted by the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce.

The expansion doubled the number of cardiac catheterization labs, doubled the capacity of the hospital's endoscopy suites and brought 24 new licensed beds online, said Rushing, who also serves as CEO of Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital. It also involved adding a dedicated 10-bed observation unit, which is used to observe patients in emergency situations in the time period prior to admission, he said.

The hospital opened in 2017, and the need to expand became apparent only four months after its opening, Rushing said.

“All in all, that represents about a $193 million investment in the Cypress community over the last two years," Rushing said at the July 16 luncheon. "We will continue to grow as this community grows and be here to provide the safest, high-quality care that we can.”

Since opening in 2017, the hospital has added a high-risk pregnancy center, Memorial Hermann Wound Care, robotic surgery capabilities and occupation medicine services for companies in the region, according to a July 15 press release.

The hospital is also in the process of obtaining a Level III designation for its trauma center. Part of the $25 million expansion included adding trauma room equipment for four additional rooms in the emergency department and adding another CT scanner for trauma patients, according to the release.
