In response to the recent
government shutdown that affected thousands of Clear Lake families, nonprofit organization CCISD Cares will host food drives at every Clear Creek ISD campus through Feb. 1, according to a press release.
Residents can drop off donations at any CCISD school or support facility 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day through Feb. 1. Recommended donations include canned goods, rice, pasta, peanut butter, jelly, toilet paper, toothpaste, shampoo and diapers, according to the release.
Donations will go to Interfaith Caring Ministries, a nonprofit that helps those in need in Clear Creek and Friendswood ISDs. Monetary donations can be made at
www.ccisd.net/donate.
Families who need help can contact Interfaith Caring Ministries, 149 Park Ave., League City, at 281-332-3881.
The shutdown ended Jan. 25, hours after CCISD announced the food drive, but the drive will still go throughout the week, Senior Communications Specialist Sydney Hunt wrote in an email to
Community Impact Newspaper.
“We still recognize that even though the shutdown has been paused there are still families in need, and it will take some time for them to get back on their feet,” she wrote.
CCISD Cares is a 501(c)3 organization that helps district families during crises. For more information, visit
