Newcomer Chad Tressler won the League City City Council Position 6 seat during a runoff election Dec. 18.

Tressler won 75 percent of the vote in Galveston County. His opponent, Chris Gross, won 25 percent. A total of 1,763 residents voted in Galveston County.

Tressler said he would prioritize infrastructure and public safety during his term.

On Nov. 6, Tressler secured about 46 percent of the vote against his two opponents, Gross and Silvio Vincenzo, prompting the runoff election, as no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote.

With Tressler's election, the League City City Council will be full in the new year. Mayor Pat Hallisey and Position 7 Council Member Nick Long were re-elected Nov. 6, as was Position 2 Council Member Hank Dugie, who ran unopposed. One-time Council Member Andy Mann also won the Position 1 seat Nov. 6, making Tressler the only council member with no previous experience.

Position 6 Council Member Keith Gross, Chris Gross' brother, did not run for re-election. Position 1 Council Member Dan Becker reached his term limit and was unable to be re-elected.
