Collin County Commissioners held its second of three public hearings on the proposed fiscal year 2018-19 tax rate and budget during a meeting Monday, Sept. 10.

The county is proposing a property tax rate of $0.180785 per $100 property valuation for FY 2018-19, down nearly 1.15-cents from the $0.192246 per $100 property valuation rate in FY 2017-18. If approved, this will be the county’s 25th year with no tax rate increase.

The average home value in Collin County is $363,040, according to a presentation during the meeting. If the new property tax rate is approved, the average county tax bill would slightly decrease in FY 2018-19 from $628.96 to $623.51, according to the presentation.

The third and final public hearing on the proposed tax rate and budget will be held Sept. 17 at 1:30 p.m. in the Jack Hatchell Administration Building, 2300 Bloomdale Road, McKinney.
