The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has again given a Superior rating to League City’s public water system, something only 13 percent of Texas water systems accomplished in 2015, according to a press release.

The commission inspected the city’s water system on July 17 and reviewed its operations, including monitoring, reporting, staff licensing and other “key elements” related to water system operations, according to the release.

The commission gives Superior rankings to water systems that meet and maintain a higher set of standards required of all public water systems, including protecting public health, ensuring reliable operations and supply for customers and environmental stewardship, to name a few, according to the release.

The commission’s inspection, which occurs every three years, ended with the inspector complimenting the city’s “exceptional” drinking water operations and investment in utility infrastructure. The commission’s inspector found zero violations while reviewing League City’s water system, according to the release.

The city first achieved its Superior ranking in the early 2000s.
