Mitchell McWilliams, JP Mendoza and Kenneth Bingham took over ownership of downtown Kyle venue Troubadours—formerly known as Desperados—on April 21. The trio said they are overhauling much of the venue’s interior, but Mendoza said they plan to keep the most popular aspect of Desperados: Tejano music.
Hays County releases preliminary 2017 property appraisals for San Marcos, Buda, Kyle
Preliminary 2017 appraised values for homes in Hays County were released in early May, showing a 9 percent increase in the average market value of residences. Since the 2016 appraisals, 2,085 new homes and 49 new commercial buildings were built in Hays County.

The Pie in the Sky festival was organized by Kyle officials to celebrate the city with pie, balloons and live music, but our readers were tickled at one particular planned event: during the festival, organizers said they will attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the most people named Kyle being in one place. The inaugural Kyle Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon festival will take place Sept. 1-2 at Lake Kyle.
