City Council to consider resolution against property tax revenue caps

City Council will consider voting on a resolution opposing property tax revenue caps and any legislative action to action to enact such caps. Two bills in the Texas Legislature, Senate Bill 2 and House Bill 15, would automatically call an election if a city's property tax revenue exceeded 5 percent and 4 percent, respectively, year over year. The current law says residents can petition for an election if property tax revenue exceeds 8 percent. The city of Frisco's property tax revenue has increased more than 10 percent each year for the past few years. According to the resolution, both bills would hurt city services and not provide substantial tax relief to residents. The meeting begins at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Frisco City Hall, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd.
