Here's what you need to know to get caught up in Austin this week:

1. CodeNEXT maps revealed

The highly-anticipated CodeNEXT maps, which details where zoning changes are proposed as part of the city of Austin's new land development code rewrite, will be publicized Tuesday. Here's what to expect. 

2. Austin Oaks PUD passes

After three years, the controversial zoning case Austin Oaks passed 8-2-1 Thursday. The 1 million square-foot planned unit development, or PUD, will be located at the corner of Spicewood Springs and MoPac in District 10. The final site plan will have 375 residential units, 27 of which must be affordable.

3. Saturday is Earth Day 

Celebrate Earth Day in at Hutson-Tillotson University with free activities, an eco discovery zone, food trucks, a recycling area and more. The event starts at noon Saturday.

4. Downtown Austin gets public restrooms

Downtown Austin is piloting a temporary public restroom program in the hopes of eventually bringing permanent facilities to the area. The first single-occupancy restroom will be placed at East Sixth Street and the I-35 frontage road.

5. Barks for Beer glasses go on sale this week

Austin's fourth annual Barks for Beer—which partners with local breweries to provide free beer throughout the month of May—starts May 1, but you need to purchase a $20 glass to participate. The glasses go on sale Monday. Here's where you can get a glass.
