PLN-2017-01-3-1Well, it is time to introduce myself as the new Plano editor for Community Impact Newspaper.

In the era of email newsletters and social media, engaged citizens have no shortage of options for following their local institutions. But those resources, although useful and informative for many, are not a substitute for independent journalism, carefully researched and focused on what the reader needs to know. If you look for this publication every month, there is a good chance you share that belief.

With all the economic activity in the Legacy corridor, the city will face new traffic demands on its already crowded roadways. Public officials are discussing ways to revitalize aging areas of town—as Collin Creek Mall, for instance, expects to lose one of its flagship department stores when Macy’s closes its doors later this year.

My pledge to you is to push our team to cover it all. We will be there at your City Council and school board meetings, striving to provide in-depth coverage. I hope you will follow along with interest.
