The Texas Department of Transportation is seeking input through Dec. 20 about its plans to improve the I-35 intersection at Parmer Lane in North Austin

TxDOT plans to spend about $25 million at the intersection to build a new diverging diamond intersection, in which vehicles cross to the left side of the road so left-turning and through traffic pass through simultaneously. A southbound bypass lane at Parmer would be added, and entrance and exit ramps would be reconstructed.

Construction could begin in late 2018, and the project could be complete in summer 2020. Funding likely will come about $2.1 billion in revenue expected to flow into Central Texas from the state.
