Crews began repaving the “failing” stretch of West 35th Street between MoPac and Jefferson Street yesterday, according to the city of Austin.
The work is being done because the existing pavement is in poor condition, according to a city public works department news release.
Construction work will take place from 6 p.m.-6 a.m. and is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
Nightly lane closures will affect the roadway, with one lane remaining open in each direction. Cross streets and driveways will be closed intermittently when crews are working directly in front of the streets or driveways.
Uneven road surfaces in the construction zone are possible, and crews and machinery will be around the project site.
Motorists are urged to follow traffic signs and use caution when traveling near the work zone.
